Let us introduce
you to the first surgeon in the United States to perform laser
vision correction with the Summit laser, Dr. Michael Gordon;
one of the premier researchers and lecturers on the subject of
refractive surgery, Dr. Perry S. Binder; and a national specialist
on contact lens fitting and refractive surgery co-management,
Dr. David Geffen. This team of doctors has successfully performed

Dr. Michael Gordon
Michael Gordon,
M.D. is recognized world-wide as an authority and teacher of
various refractive surgery techniques, including excimer laser,
epikeratophakia, radial keratotomy and keratomileusis.
In 1989 Dr. Gordon
was the first surgeon in the United States to use the Summit
excimer laser to correct nearsightedness. He has lectured and
taught excimer laser and radial keratotomy techniques all over
the world. Dr. Gordon was also the first surgeon in the United
States to use the Summit laser to correct astigmatism and hyperopia
with the Summit Technology patented Emphasis Erodible Mask. He
is currently the National Medical Monitor for ongoing clinical
trials for the laser vision correction of astigmatism and farsightedness,
and is the only surgeon to have been involved in all phases of
the clinical investigation of the Summit laser in the United
States, prior to and up to approval. Dr. Gordon has taught laser
vision correction to ophthalmologists all over the world and
has published and presented many papers at medical conferences
world-wide.
Over the years
Dr. Gordon has been involved in every aspect of refractive surgery,
traveling the world to learn and teach the latest refractive
surgery techniques. Dr. Gordon has performed well over 10,000
radial keratotomy procedures and over 2,000 laser procedures,
making him one of the most experienced laser refractive surgeons
in the world. Dr. Gordon's practice is currently limited to refractive
surgery.

Dr. Perry S. Binder
Perry S. Binder,
M.D. is one of the premier surgeons and lecturers in refractive
surgery. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of 14 Journals
and published over 150 scientific articles in the field of refractive
surgery. He was twice elected to Town and Country Magazineπs
list of the top physicians in America and was listed by Good
Housekeeping as one of the top 400 Doctors in America.
Dr. Binder is
known as an authority in refractive surgery procedures. He has
served as a consultant for 20 ophthalmic industry companies,
including the solid state excimer laser company Novatec, Inc.
and is a clinical investigator for the excimer laser companies,
VISX, Inc., Summit Technology, Inc and Phoenix Keratek, Inc.
a company manufacturing a microkeratome for the LASIK procedure.
He is an experienced excimer laser surgeon performing excimer
laser surgery with the VISX and Summit lasers.
Dr. Binder performed
the first keratomileusis procedure in San Diego in 1980 making
him one of the first ophthalmologists to perform refractive eye
surgery in the United States. Through his laboratory and clinical
expertise, he has helped develop or improved upon all current
refractive surgical procedures including excimer laser, laser
assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK), astigmatic keratotomy,
and the Holmium: YAG laser. He holds several United States and
International patents for ophthalmic surgery devices. He is President
of the National Vision Research Institute - a privately owned
state-of-the-art eye research laboratory in San Diego.

Dr. David Geffen
David Geffen,
O.D. received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from University
of California, Los Angeles, and his Doctor of Optometry from
University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. He was
in private practice in La Jolla from 1982 to 1994 before joining
Vision Surgery & Laser Center, a group practice with Michael
Gordon, M.D. and Perry S. Binder, M.D. Dr. Geffen specializes
in family eyecare, contact lenses, low vision and refractive
surgery consultation.
Dr. Geffen is
nationally known for his clinical research on contact lens products,
participating in various studies for Bausch & Lomb, Johnson
& Johnson, Biocompatibles, Allergan, Ciba and other contact
lens manufacturers. He is a prominent speaker on refractive surgery
and contact lens compliance issues, as well as specialty lens
designs. Dr. Geffen has published many articles on contact lenses
and refractive surgery and is contributing editor to Contact
Lens Spectrum. He is past director of Low Vision Services, Mericos
Eye Institute at Scripps Hospital.
Dr. Geffen's
services include comprehensive eye examinations for glasses and
contact lenses, low vision evaluations and refractive surgery
co-management. Contact lenses and glasses are available through
Vision Surgery & Laser Center, including the most technologically
advanced disposable and bifocal contact lenses and eyeglasses.
