Thomas A. Deutsch, M.D.,
Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology
Thomas A. Deutsch, M.D., is Professor
and Chairman of Ophthalmology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's
Medical Center in Chicago Illinois. He is a specialist, who performs
and teaches laser vision correction. Dr. Deutsch received his
medical degree from Rush Medical College. He is a member of many
professional groups, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology,
the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and
the American College of Surgeons. He is Secretary for New Ophthalmic
Information of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is past
president of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society and the Chicago
Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Dr. Deutsch is
the author of many publications and lectures extensively. He
is the recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor
Award and Senior Achievement Award.

Jonathan B. Rubenstein,
M.D.,
Director of Refractive Surgery
Jonathan B. Rubenstein, M.D.,
is a full Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush Medical College
in Chicago, attending physician and director of Refractive Surgery
at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center and Chairman of
Ophthalmology at Rush North Shore Medical Center. He holds the
Deutsch Family Chair in Ophthalmology at Rush. Dr. Rubenstein
has served as principal investigator in clinical trials of the
Excimer laser for PRK in astigmatism, myopia, and hyperopia and
is a key instructor for the Rush Excimer Laser FDA certification
course in Chicago. Dr. Rubenstein received his Doctor of Medicine
degree with honors from Rush Medical College, his residency in
Ophthalmology at Rush and a fellowship in Corneal and Refractive
Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He has published more
than 40 scientific papers, lectured extensively nationally and
is a frequent course director and instructor for both the American
Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract
and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). Dr. Rubenstein is a fellow of
the American College of Surgeons. He serves on the cornea clinical
committee for the ASCRS and the skills transfer and digital media
committee of the AAO. He is a recipient of the American Academy
of Ophthalmology's Honor Award. He is a past president of the
Chicago Ophthalmological Society and is on the board of directors
of the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness.

Robert M. Stein, M.D.,
Ophthalmologist
Robert M. Stein is Assistant
Professor at Rush Medical College. Dr. Stein is also an attending
physician in Ophthalmology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical
Center in Chicago and Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie.
He has extensive experience with laser vision correction as well
as other ophthalmic surgical procedures. Dr. Stein received his
medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He is a Fellow
of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of The
American Medical Association, The American Society of Cataract
and Refractive Surgery, the Illinois State Medical Society, the
Chicago Medical Society and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society.
He has been a member of the Quality Assessment Committee of SHARE
Health Plan of Illinois. He is a member of the Quality Improvement
Committee of United Health Care of Illinois.

Richard Dennis, M.D.
Dr. Dennis is the President of
Chicago Cornea Consultants, Ltd. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts,
and grew up in Glen Ellyn. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
with honors from DePauw University in Indiana, and received his
M.D. from the University of Illinois. He completed an internship
and ophthalmology residency at the Valley Medical Center in Fresno,
California. He subsequently completed a fellowship in cornea-external
diseases at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation, University of
California at San Francisco Medical Center, Department of Ophthalmology.
He served as a Captain and flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force
at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California.
Dr. Dennis then joined the faculty at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's
Medical Center and became director of the Cornea Service. He
was also director of the residency program from 1983-84. He is
an assistant professor and senior attending physician in the
Department of Ophthalmology. He has maintained practices in Chicago
and Highland Park since 1977, and has been President of Chicago
Cornea Consultants since its inception. He is a member of the
Chicago Ophthalmological Society (Councilor, 1990-91), American
Medical Association, Illinois State and Chicago Medical Societies,
Illinois Association of Ophthalmology, Association for Research
in Vision and Ophthalmology, Eye Bank Association of America,
and the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation.
Dr. Dennis' special interests include corneal immunology, herpes
simplex ocular disease, refractive corneal surgery, and the complications
of intraocular lens implants. He lectures frequently on corneal
transplantation, refractive surgery, and related topics. He and
his wife live in Chicago.

Randy Epstein, M.D.
Dr. Epstein is the Chief Executive
Officer of Chicago Cornea Consultants, Ltd. He was born in Chicago
and grew up in Rogers Park. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree
from the University of Illinois and received his M.D. from Rush
Medical College. He completed an internship and ophthalmology
residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
He subsequently completed National Institutes of Health sponsored
fellowships in ocular immunology research and cornea-external
diseases at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.
He returned to Chicago in 1986, and was appointed to the faculties
of Rush Medical College, where he is an Associate Professor of
Ophthalmology, and the University of Illinois. He is a member
of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology
(AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the
Cornea Society, Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists,
Illinois State and Chicago Medical Societies, Illinois Association
of Ophthalmology, Chicago Ophthalmological Society, Ocular Microbiology
and Immunology Group, and the International Society of Refractive
Surgery-AAO. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal
"Review of Refractive Surgery". Dr. Epstein's special
interests include the surgical and laser treatment of refractive
errors, immunological diseases of the cornea, and cataract surgery
complications. He lectures frequently, both locally and nationally,
on many of these subjects.

Parag Majmudar, M.D.
Parag A. Majmudar, M.D. is a
fellowship-trained corneal and refractive surgery specialist.
Raised primarily in New Jersey, Dr. Majmudar graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University in Bethlehem,
PA, as part of an honors program in medical education. After
receiving his degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia, where he was a member of the prestigious Alpha
Omega Alpha Honor Society, Dr. Majmudar completed his ophthalmology
residency at the University of Chicago, serving as chief resident
in the Department of Ophthalmology. He followed his residency
with subspecialty fellowship training in cornea and external
diseases and refractive surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's
Medical Center in Chicago. An active participant in clinical
research activities, Dr. Majmudar is an internationally recognized
lecturer and instructor on the subjects of corneal and refractive
surgery. Currently, he serves as an assistant professor of ophthalmology
at Rush Medical College in Chicago and is the co-director of
the Corneal Fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian--St. Luke's Medical
Center, where he plays an integral role in the clinical education
of tomorrow's ophthalmologists. Dr. Majmudar was recently named
to the Editorial Advisory Board of Cataract and Refractive
Surgery Today. Dr. Majmudar is an active member of The American
Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and
Refractive Surgery, The International Society of Refractive Surgery,
The Cornea Society, and The Chicago Ophthalmological Society.
In addition, Dr. Majmudar is in private practice in with Chicago
Cornea Consultants in Hoffman Estates, IL and Highland Park,
IL, where he specializes in cataract surgery, advanced laser
vision correction techniques, including LASIK, and complications
stemming from refractive surgery.

Richard Grostern, M.D.
Richard Grostern, M.D. is a native
of Montreal, Canada where he received his Bachelor of Science
from McGill University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from
The Chicago Medical School, after which he completed his ophthalmology
residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. During
his residency Dr. Grostern received extensive training in all
aspects of ophthalmology, including refractive surgery. He then
completed a fellowship and served as clinical instructor in the
Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison after which he returned to Rush as Assistant
Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Grostern is
a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) where
he has served on numerous Academy committees. He teaches multiple
courses at the annual meeting of the AAO and has authored numerous
original articles, book chapters, and research abstracts.

Rush is located
5 minutes west of the loop along the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290)
at the Ashland/Paulina exit, a short distance from the junction
of the Eisenhower, Kennedy (I-90) and Dan Ryan (I-94) Expressways.
The Blue (Douglas/O'Hare) Line elevated train lets passengers
off at our back door, the Polk-Paulina Station. An enclosed garage
is located off of Harrison Street, which connects by a covered
walkway to the Professional Building.
